Knowledge Base
Ground agents with approved websites and documents.
The Knowledge Base gives agents product, policy, and organization context without expanding every instruction prompt. The product supports separate knowledge bases containing documents, website sources, and API-backed sources for retrieval-augmented generation.

Add knowledge
- Add approved website URLs and choose a crawl depth appropriate for the site.
- Upload documents containing product information, FAQs, policies, or operating procedures.
- Create separate knowledge bases for content that should not be shared across every agent.
- Open a knowledge base to review or update its sources.
- Use descriptive filenames and remove superseded versions.
- Test questions after updating sources to confirm the expected information is retrieved.
Create separate knowledge bases when different use cases should not share the same facts. Assign only the relevant knowledge base to a workflow; a larger collection is not automatically a better one and can make retrieval less precise.
Source types
- Documents: upload approved reference material that has a stable owner and revision process.
- Websites: ingest selected public pages when the source is maintained on the web.
- FAQs: add concise question-and-answer material for common, predictable requests.
- API sources: connect supported dynamic sources when the answer must come from a current system.
The product shows source and ingestion state so operators can distinguish configured content from content that is ready for retrieval. Wait for processing to complete before evaluating an agent against newly added material.
Content guidance
Prefer concise, authoritative material. Avoid duplicate documents, conflicting policies, customer-specific exports, and pages dominated by navigation or marketing copy.
Governance and testing
Give each source an owner and review date. Remove superseded material instead of leaving multiple versions available. Test both questions the source should answer and questions it should refuse or route elsewhere. Knowledge improves factual grounding; it does not replace clear agent boundaries.
